Why You Should Go to EcoForward Cyprus 2026 : Even If You’re Not an “Eco Person”

There are plenty of events in Cyprus where you can spend a day listening to people talk about the environment.

EcoForward Cyprus is trying to do something a little different.

Taking place on 29 November at St. Raphael Resort in Limassol, the event brings together an exhibition, talks, workshops, local businesses, products, ideas and people.

The programme has been filling up with talks about everything from furniture and food to energy bills, fashion, beauty, children’s environments and even how to become more involved in your community. There is also a kids zone, an exhibition and hands-on workshops.

So, here are a few reasons EcoForward might be worth putting on your calendar.

1. You might actually learn something useful for Monday morning

Sustainability can sometimes feel like a subject that belongs in government reports, corporate presentations and very serious conferences.

But some of the EcoForward talks are much closer to everyday life.

Wondering whether those labels on products actually tell you anything useful? There is a session on that.

Interested in what you are putting on your skin, feeding your family or bringing into your home? The programme includes talks on food choices, beauty products and creating healthier, lower-toxin environments for children.

These are not abstract climate targets. They are questions most of us deal with, whether or not we use the word “sustainability” to describe them.

2. You can discover Cyprus businesses you may not know about

EcoForward’s exhibition will bring together Cyprus-based sustainable brands, designers, product creators, service providers and innovators.

And this can be more interesting than simply walking around looking at stalls.

You might discover a furniture maker, a local product you haven’t tried, an alternative to something you normally buy, or a small business solving a problem in a surprisingly simple way.

There is something quite encouraging about seeing that sustainability isn’t just something discussed by large companies or international organisations. People in Cyprus are already experimenting, building, designing, making and changing the way they work.

3. Sustainability doesn’t have to mean giving up everything you enjoy

This is probably one of the most useful conversations we can have.

Most people aren’t going to suddenly stop driving, become zero-waste, grow all their own food and make their own soap.

And honestly, I don’t think that should be the starting point.

Some of the sessions at EcoForward are about making better decisions rather than making perfect ones — buying better-quality furniture, understanding food choices, making small changes at home or finding ways to use fewer resources.

That feels much more realistic.

You don’t have to change your entire lifestyle. Sometimes you just need better information about the choices you already make.

4. There are things to do, not just things to listen to

If sitting through talks all day isn’t your idea of fun, there are workshops and various activities to enjoy throughout the day.

One of them is a traditional weaving workshop where participants can create their own fabric piece using scrap material and a hand weaving loom.

There is also a creative moss workshop, where participants can make their own preserved moss piece.

5. Bring the kids

There will be a kids zone where children can learn about sustainability in a more playful way, and the programme also includes a session exploring how we can help children develop a connection with the ocean and nature.

That makes it easier to turn the day into a family outing rather than another event that one member of the family attends while everyone else stays home.

And perhaps that’s exactly how environmental awareness becomes something normal rather than something we only talk about on special occasions.

6. If you run a business, there is a completely different side to the event

For business owners and professionals, the B2B programme goes beyond general sustainability advice.

There are discussions on food waste, tourism, sustainable gastronomy, business practices, finance, construction, energy, shipping and technology.

There is even a Live Business Challenge, where real sustainability challenges will be discussed with experts around the table — with the audience able to listen, ask questions or join the conversation.

That could be considerably more useful than another presentation telling businesses that they need to “go green” without explaining what that actually looks like.

And if you’re looking for contacts, the full-access pass includes the possibility of scheduling meetings with exhibitors and participants through the event’s web-based app.

7. You don’t need to spend money to attend

The basic public access is free.

That includes the exhibition, B2C talks, workshops and open networking areas. A full-access pass costs €10 online (€15 at the door) and adds access to the B2B conference area and professional networking opportunities.

There is also a nice detail here: 80% of the proceeds from full-access passes will support projects by City Friends Club and ECOmbare, including environmental clean-ups, tree planting and educational initiatives in Cyprus.

So even the paid option has a connection to work happening beyond the event itself.

8. It could simply be a nice way to spend a Sunday

And perhaps this is the least complicated reason to go.

You don’t have to arrive with a five-year sustainability plan.

You don’t have to sit through every talk.

You don’t have to agree with every idea.

You can walk around the exhibition, listen to a couple of talks, have a coffee, try a workshop, take the kids, discover a local business and go home.

Maybe you’ll leave with a new product.

Maybe you’ll leave with a question.

Maybe you’ll realise that one thing you have been doing for years could be done differently.

Or maybe you’ll simply have an interesting conversation with someone you wouldn’t normally meet.

That counts too.

You don’t have to be an “eco person”.

You just have to be curious.
