In this interview, Antonis Georgiο, the owner of Titan Metals Group shares the inspiring story behind the company—a one-man mission to reduce environmental harm by making metal recycling easy and accessible across Cyprus.
Antonis, can you tell us the story behind Titan Metals Group? What inspired you to start this business?
Titan Metals Group started from my own passion for sustainability and my desire to make a real difference in how metal waste is handled in Cyprus. I saw how much scrap metal was going to waste—thrown out or left to rust—and realized there was both an environmental need and a business opportunity. I decided to take it on myself, starting small but with a clear mission: to help people recycle metal responsibly and reduce environmental harm.
What types of metals do you collect, and who are your typical customers—businesses, homeowners, or both?
I collect a wide variety of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including copper, aluminum, brass, steel, stainless steel, and lead. My customers range from construction companies and tradespeople to everyday homeowners cleaning out their property. I work with anyone who needs help clearing out scrap, whether it’s a single appliance or tons of industrial material.

Do you provide your services all over Cyprus? How can people contact you for collecting metals?
Yes, I offer services across the whole of Cyprus. People can contact me directly through WhatsApp or via social media. I try to make it as easy as possible—once they get in touch, I handle the rest, from collection to proper sorting and recycling.
What kind of environmental impact does your work have? Can you share any data or milestones you’ve achieved?
Even as a one-person operation, the environmental impact is real. Recycling metal uses far less energy than producing it from raw materials and keeps valuable resources out of landfills. So far, I’ve personally collected and recycled over 100 tonnes of scrap metal, helping reduce carbon emissions and support a more circular economy.
Do you think people are generally aware of the value of recycling metals? What misconceptions do they have?
There’s still a lot of room for education. Many people think metal recycling is only for big companies or that it’s not worth the effort for small amounts. But that’s not true—every bit helps, and even small contributions add up. Another misconception is that it’s a complicated process, when in fact, I’ve made it very straightforward for people to recycle.
How can individuals or small businesses start recycling metal more responsibly?
It starts with not throwing metal away. If you have old appliances, cables, tools, or construction scrap, set them aside instead of binning them. Businesses can designate a small area to collect scrap, and once there’s enough, contact someone like me. I also offer advice if they’re unsure about what’s recyclable.
Have you partnered with any local schools, businesses, or community groups to raise awareness?
Unfortunately, I have not yet had the opportunity to work with local schools or community groups. It’s definitely something I look forward to, and I’m open to any discussion about how Titan Metals could be of assistance.
