Hi there. I’m a mom of two. I have a newborn and a toddler. Somewhere between forgetting my coffee in the bathroom and googling “how to deal with the toddler’s tantrum,” I decided to become more eco-conscious. Or at least try.
Now, I’m not an expert—but I’ve started making small swaps. So, if you’re also wobbling on the green parenting path (no judgment, friend), here are five organic baby products I’ve tried—or am trying—on my very imperfect journey to being a more sustainable mom.
1. PUREBORN Biodegradable Diapers

Because your baby’s poop shouldn’t outlive you.
Let’s talk dirty—diapers, I mean. I learned that a single diaper can take roughly 500 years to break down…Just imagine. I am using on average one pack of diapers a week. I am also not a person who will turn to reusable clothes diapers. Therefore, started looking at the alternatives, tried Pureborn and loved it.
PUREBORN diapers are made from organic bamboo, free from nasties like chlorine or latex, and best of all—they’re biodegradable. Here I talk more about my switch to this brand.
2. Reusable Cloth Wipes
The zero-waste dream I might never come close to
Judge me all you want but it is inconvenient for me to switch to reusable cloth wipes. Here what I do instead: while home and taking advantage that home is in Cyprus with over 300 sunny days a year, I try to wash the little one and dry with a towel before change. I also tried more ecological wet wipes from Bambo brand.
3. Organic Baby Lotion and Shampoo

Babies absorb so much through their skin! Go for clean, non-toxic ingredients. I bathe the baby with the one on the picture. I got it as a gift and loved it. A mild formulation, natural active ingredients and essential oils contained in this herbal bath are beneficial for body and skin. Camomile soothing and calming, one of the best known herbs for skin care.
4. Organic Cotton Onesies
Soft enough for baby skin, smug enough for Instagram.
Organic cotton is gentler on baby’s sensitive skin, and you avoid all the pesticides that regular cotton brings to the party. I don’t use particular brands but trying to pay attention at labels hoping that the info on them is true. It doesn’t mean that I don’t use all those cute gifts people bring me for my babies, often not from organic cotton. I am here making small steps naturEally.
5. Natural Wood Teethers
Skip plastic and silicone when possible. Teethers made from untreated wood (like maple or beech) are safe and biodegradable. For my child bought a few wooden ones from local handmade shops. Even though silicone is more durable than plastic, I found out that it doesn’t break down naturally in landfills. It is not 100% natural material.
Listen, I’m still figuring it all out. Some days I am super eco conscious, other days I cave and order McDonalds and happy meal with another plastic toy in it. Progress, not perfection, right?
But every little swap feels like a quiet win—and if you’re reading this, you’re probably trying too. So here’s to fewer landfills, softer baby bums, and moms doing our best.
